When it comes to weddings, we photographers get to see it all.  So here goes…some tips we recommend when planning your big day:

  1. Make your special day a unique expression about WHO you are as a couple
  2. You don’t have to follow the traditional format like everyone else.  These days anything goes!
  3. Remember – most people hate giving speeches (it’s right up there with the fear of dying!) so… break with tradition …and do them first up…then EVERYONE can relax and enjoy the night!
  4. Early speeches can also set the tone for the night “thanks for coming and celebrating with us – please dance, mingle, and enjoy the night”
  5. If you are not into dancing, then have your Bridal Waltz as your entry to the Reception…it can be great fun!
  6. An early Cake Cutting  will get the rest of the formalities out of the way
  7. Casual Cocktail weddings tend to see people circulate with those they want to,  and helps you too! (trying to match people at tables  can prove a nightmare)
  8. If you’re on a budget don’t sacrifice when it comes to the photography.  The photography is, at the end of the day, the only visual keepsake memory you have of the day
  9. Choose a professional photographer – remember they do it for a living.  They know what and when to expect things,  they make you feel at ease and comfortable, they take shots that are flattering to you, they understand composition and light, they are creatives, they understand the emotive aspect of candid photos, they think on their feet when it comes to any of the little glitches that happen on the day,  and finally they create a collection of images in post production that you will treasure forever.  Believe us – no amateur can do this!
  10. Pick a photographer that you experience a rapport with
  11. Preferably pick a photographer that is AIPP Accredited
