Elopements…for you?
As a photographer I have probably shot 50 elopements in my career. In these instances, I also acted as a witness for the couples.
Having such an intimate wedding was always a beautiful EXPERIENCE to observe, and is now, an experience I can share with you from both sides…. having just recently just eloped myself.
For us, our day was all about simplicity, sincerity and a little secrecy.
It was so easy to plan, and we got exactly what we wanted. No having to please anyone else, after all, we were being entirely selfish!
Our day was fun from beginning to end. We laughed lots, we kissed lots, and we exchanged meaningful vows.
It was a truly Romantic, Intimate Experience.
We were lucky- everyone was delighted for us when we rang to tell our news. Be warned though… I’m told from many of my other couples, that this is not always the case. Some family and friends can actually be hurt and disappointed with your choice (particularly if it is your first marriage)!
Things I would recommend YOU MUST DO:
- Pick a celebrant who will make your ceremony delightfully unique. My thanks to Kerry Wall
- Have a professional photographer capture your ceremony, as well as a few romantic shots afterwards, not only to celebrate the event, but to have as keepsake memories. Remember, family & friends will want to see photos… so they don’t feel completely left out! My thanks to Julie Delisser for her gorgeous images
- Have professional makeup done. My thanks to Candy at Bon Bon Beaute who, very generously, also acted as a witness and captured a very beautiful video of our ceremony for us.
- Indulge in a beautifully elegant dress that can be worn again
- Drink lots of French Champagne
- Enjoy a scrumptious meal at a fabulous restaurant
- Book into an expensive hotel
Would we have done anything differently? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
Were we happy with our decision? ABSOLUTELY!
